Mariannette Miller-Meeks Threatens to Kill at Least 700 Iowa Jobs

House Republicans’ recent proposal would gut investments that help employ hard-working Iowans and other essential programs

House Republicans are targeting clean energy and trying to repeal key provisions of the broadly popular Inflation Reduction Act as part of their plan to force the U.S. into an economic default if they cannot make drastic cuts to programs millions of families depend on.

new report is highlighting the effect Republicans’ latest plans could have on jobs in Republican-held districts. In Newton, Iowa, the Inflation Reduction Act’s clean energy tax credits, which Republicans are trying to repeal, are allowing TPI Composites to create roughly 700 jobs manufacturing windmill blades. House Republicans and Mariannete Miller-Meeks’ plan would likely halt these new IA-01 jobs.

DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“Any way you spin it, Mariannette Miller-Meeks isn’t looking out for Iowans. By committing herself to her extreme ideology, she is barreling towards an unprecedented, catastrophic default that would tank the economy unless she can gut hundreds of jobs in Iowa. One thing is clear: Iowa won’t forget her reckless behavior and will hold her accountable next November.”
