Mariannette Miller-Meeks Votes to Protect Cost-Raising Tariffs

Despite Trump’s sweeping tariffs costing the average American household $1,000 more per year, Miller-Meeks still supports them

Today, Mariannette Miller-Meeks voted *again* to shield Donald Trump from Congressional oversight on his sweeping, reckless tariffs that are raising costs for Iowans.

The pivotal vote comes as a new report from the Tax Foundation found Trump’s tariffs cost the average American household $1,000 last year. The cost is expected to rise in 2026 to $1,300 if existing tariffs that House Republicans voted on today stay in place.

This isn’t the first time Miller-Meeks voted to rubber stamp Trump’s sweeping tariffs. In September of 2025, Miller-Meeks voted to protect price-hiking tariffs, after doing the same thing in March of 2025. Today’s vote would have shielded oversight until the Summer of 2026.

REMINDER: Miller-Meeks has also suggested she wants to codify Trump’s tariffs and defended the Argentina bailout.

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Mariannette Miller-Meeks votes once again to raise costs on hardworking families and undercut Iowa farmers. Miller-Meeks pledged to lower the cost of living on the campaign trail but has done the exact opposite. Promises made, promises broken.”
