The Supreme Court has officially overturned Roe v. Wade, eliminating the constitutional right to abortion for millions of women and paving the way for Republicans to pass a nationwide ban on abortion. It’s a future that Mark Robertson has long worked towards – and now he will have to own up to his extreme, deeply unpopular positions.
Robertson has called for overturning Roe v. Wade, paving the way for Republicans to pass a nationwide ban on abortion that could overturn laws already on the books in Nevada. He supports Texas’ drastic six-week abortion ban with no exceptions for rape and incest, and called for other states to “follow suit.” If Roberston has his way, people could collect bounties for reporting doctors or anyone else who helps women get abortions.
Make no mistake: Robertson is completely out of step with Nevadans who voted to protect a woman’s right to an abortion by a two-to-one margin in 1990.
He will be held accountable for his party’s role in decimating women’s reproductive freedoms and its plan to institute a nationwide abortion ban – undoing the will of Nevada voters.
DCCC spokesperson Johanna Warshaw:
“The stakes in this election could not be higher: Mark Robertson wants to ban abortion with no exceptions for rape and incest and place bounties on anyone who helps women get abortions. Robertson couldn’t be more out of step with Southern Nevadans – and we will remind Nevada voters of his cruel extremism every day until November.”
