Martha McSally’s Worlds Collide

Donald Trump’s first official visit to Arizona as President is presenting a major problem for vulnerable Congresswoman Martha McSally – and shining a spotlight on her political posturing when it comes to the divisive President and his deeply unpopular agenda.

In Arizona, McSally refuses to take a stance on President Trump:

  • She won’t confirm to the media whether or not she’ll attend President Trump’s rally.
  • She won’t go on the record about whether or not she supports a potential Presidential pardon of Joe Arpaio.
  • She refuses to say whether or not she voted for President Trump.
  • She even got caught admitting behind closed doors that President Trump is a liability and that she’s worried about her re-election chances.

In Washington, McSally full embraces President Trump and his unpopular agenda:

  • She’s voted with President Trump 95 percent of the time in Washington.
  • According to an AP reporter, McSally boldly said let’s get this “f*ing thing” done when voting to pass the deeply unpopular Republican Ripoff & Repeal bill that would rip away health care from 465,000 Arizonians.
  • She voted to fund President Trump’s unpopular border wall after saying she didn’t support it back home.
  • She protects big bankers over her constituents, voting to deregulate Wall Street.

“In Arizona, Congresswoman McSally pretends to keep President Trump at arm’s length, but in Washington, she’s voting lock-step to advance his harmful agenda,” said DCCC spokeswoman Rachel Irwin. “Martha McSally can’t have it both ways. Her political calculation is center stage tonight and the people of Arizona deserve a leader willing to put their interests first.”
