Senate process provides further evidence that House-passed bill was never fixable
As the Senate prepares to vote on its so-called “skinny” repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Make no mistake – there is nothing skinny about it. 16 million Americans will lose health insurance and costs will skyrocket for individuals.
For example, in states with competitive House races, rates will increase drastically. Just to name a few: in Arizona, Florida, and New Jersey, premiums would increase by an average $1,606 ($2,872/ 60yr), $1,163 ($1,838/ 60yr), and $1,258 ($1,1946) respectively.

“No matter how many times Republicans go back to the drawing board on health care, they keep coming back with a bill that rips health insurance from millions of Americans and causes premiums to skyrocket across the board,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “The Senate’s embarrassing ‘skinny repeal’ is a reflection of how unworkable and reckless the House-passed bill was when it was sent to the Senate.”
