Republicans followed up on their plan to pass a nationwide abortion ban by introducing two bills that do just that. If Republicans win the House majority, they will pass a nationwide abortion ban, preventing women and girls in all 50 states from getting the health care they need.
Make no mistake: Matt Larkin would be a reliable vote for D.C. Republicans’ nationwide abortion ban, which would override pre-existing protections in Washington state.
Larkin has already made his position on a federal abortion ban clear, telling supporters, “I can see a strong conservative Congress putting forward that vote to ban it nationally.” Larkin also said “I don’t believe in the exceptions … for rape and incest or things like that.”
“Matt Larkin will be nothing but another rubber stamp on extreme Republicans’ crusade against Washington state women and their reproductive freedoms,“ said DCCC spokesperson Johanna Warshaw. “Larkin and national Republicans want to let the federal government interfere with Washingtonians’ personal, private decisions and override current state protections.”
