Max Miller, Mike Turner, and Mike Carey Vote to Protect Trump’s Cost-Raising Tariffs

Despite Trump’s sweeping tariffs costing average American household $1,000 more per year, Miller, Turner and Carey still support them

Last night, Max Miller, Mike Turner, and Mike Carey voted to shield Donald Trump from Congressional oversight on his sweeping, reckless tariffs that are raising costs for Ohioans.

The pivotal vote comes as a new report from the Tax Foundation found Trump’s tariffs cost the average American household $1,000 last year. The cost is expected to rise in 2026 to $1,300 if existing tariffs that Miller, Turner and Carey voted to continue stay in place.

This isn’t the first time Miller, Turner, and Carey voted to rubber stamp Trump’s sweeping tariffs. In September of 2025, Republicans voted to protect price-hiking tariffs, after doing the same thing in March of 2025. Last night’s vote would have shielded oversight until the Summer of 2026.

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Max Miller, Mike Turner, and Mike Carey have once again sided with Donald Trump over Ohio families. They pledged to lower the cost of living on the campaign trail but have done the exact opposite. Promises made, promises broken.”
