May Jobs Report Shows America is on the Move

Thanks to President Biden and Democrats’ economic leadership, May’s jobs report once again beat expectations. The U.S. economy added 390,000 jobs, wages are up, roughly 96% of jobs lost in the pandemic are back, and unemployment remains steady at a low 3.6%. These strong numbers show our economy’s resilience and that “the labor market is moving toward a new equilibrium.”

Combine this jobs report with Democrats’ continued efforts to bring down the high costs American consumers are facing and it’s clear the economy is best in the hands of Democrats.

Meanwhile, House Republicans have tried to prolong the economic challenges every step of the way by voting against:

  • The American Rescue Plan, which got the economy back on track;

  • The Infrastructure Law, which will create good paying jobs and improve America’s infrastructure;

  • Capping the price of insulin at $35 per month;

  • The COMPETES Act, which would boost our competitiveness with China, create jobs, and reduce prices by strengthening our supply chains;

  • And a bill that would stop oil companies from gas price gouging at the expense of American consumers.

DCCC spokesperson Chris Taylor:

“The Democratic Party is the only party in Washington working to solve problems and bolster our economy. America’s robust economic recovery and recent jobs reports show that despite Republican obstruction, President Biden and House Democrats are building a stronger economy that works for all Americans and encourages workforce participation.”
