McCarthy: “The people’s house is [un] productive”

In April, Speaker McCarthy declared that “the people’s house is a productive house again.” As is often the case with McCarthy and his leadership team, the facts tell a different story.

The previous Congress under Democratic leadership passed 25% more bills in the first six months than McCarthy and his team. House Republicans are now admitting their dysfunction could cost them their majority:

Rep. Steve Womack (R-AR): “This is, in my opinion, political incontinence on our part. We are wetting ourselves … I think there’ll be a political cost to it.”

Voters across the country are reading about McCarthy’s abject failure of leadership. House Republicans cannot be trusted to deliver for working families and the DCCC will continue to hold them accountable for their chaos ahead of 2024.

“Dysfunction. Chaos. Deadlock. The reviews are in. Kevin McCarthy and extreme MAGA Republicans cannot govern. If McCarthy is serious about delivering results for everyday Americans, he should feel free to pass the reigns back over to House Democrats who have a track record of getting stuff done and governing responsibly. His irresponsible and embarrassing ‘leadership’ is only making things harder for his vulnerable members ahead of 2024.”
