McConnell v. Molinaro

Senate Minority Leader McConnell Goes After GOP House Candidate Marc Molinaro in Senate Floor Speech

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell took to the floor of the Senate this week in a tirade that called out one of the GOP’s own House candidates, criticizing him for trying to spend almost one-fifth of Dutchess County’s relief funds on a baseball stadium.

McConnell offered Molinaro’s project as a prime example of misuse of relief funds, saying:

“In New York, one county set aside $12 million in so-called ‘relief funds’ to renovate a minor league baseball stadium.”

The candidate in question, NRCC-backed Marc Molinaro who is running in NY-19, has been embroiled in scandal after news broke that he grossly misappropriated COVID relief funds to prop up his pet project.

Molinaro walked back his misuse of funds, but questions remain about his pattern of pay-to-play in his role as the Dutchess County Executive.

One thing is clear: Even Mitch McConnell is uninterested in supporting public officials like Molinaro who seek to waste taxpayer dollars.

DCCC Spokesperson Abel Iraola:
“Marc Molinaro’s failed leadership is so obvious, even Mitch McConnell knows it. Voters will eagerly reject Molinaro and his corruption at the ballot box in November.”
