McCormick Must Apologize for Pushing FDA-Revoked Drug

Politico: Drug promoted by Rich McCormick “failed in several recent clinical trials and doctors say they can cause serious heart problems.”

After months of headlines about hydroxychloroquine’s ineffectiveness and connection to worsened health outcomes, the FDA today revoked use of the drug to treat symptoms of COVID-19 – a drug touted by GA-07 Republican nominee Rich McCormick and his Washington special interest backers as a coronavirus cure.

The FDA’s move puts even more pressure on McCormick to apologize for peddling the drug to his Twitter followers, despite evidence that the drug caused “more deaths” in coronavirus patients.

“By hawking this dangerous drug, Rich McCormick violated his Hippocratic Oath and has demonstrated yet another reason why Georgians can’t trust him with their health care,” DCCC Spokesman Avery Jaffe said. “McCormick is a quack and he should beg Georgia seniors and families to forgive him after downplaying the coronavirus threat, peddling a dangerous drug and pledging to strip away pre-existing condition protections.”
