RE: FL 26 Poll: Garcia Leads Curbelo Following Curbelo’s ‘Ponzi scheme’ Comment
Representative Joe Garcia leads Carlos Curbelo by 5 points, 45% to 40%, with 15% undecided as of the DCCC’s latest live, bilingual survey poll of likely voters in Florida’s 26th Congressional District.
When undecided voters are allocated according to party registration, Garcia’s lead increases to 6 points (53% to 47%).
Additionally, Garcia is winning Independent voters with 51%, and enjoys strong crossover support – winning nearly a quarter of Republican voters.
The results of the survey come on the heels of increased communication highlighting Curbelo’s comments in Washington calling Medicare and Social Security a ‘Ponzi scheme,’ indicating that Curbelo has done significant damage to himself and that this is a powerful line of attack in South Florida.
The partisan breakdown of the survey is 34% Democrat and 42% Republican.
These results are based on a survey of 400 likely 2014 general election voters conducted September 28 – October 1, 2014 in Florida’s 26th Congressional District. Respondents’ information came from the voter file and respondents were interviewed over the phone via live, professional interviewers.
