Matt Mowers had a bad day.
Matt Mowers is learning that in New Hampshire, potentially breaking federal voting laws isn’t good for your campaign. Now the New Hampshire Department of Justice is “reviewing the matter” of his voting twice in the 2016 campaign.
His rivals have pounced, telling WMUR in one of the most brutal local news clips in recent memory for a campaign:
Karoline Leavitt: “He [Mowers] needs to be held accountable and that means owning up to what happened. He allegedly broke federal election law. That is a very, very serious allegation, that again he is hiding away from. He is shying away from the cameras. He is not answering the phone today. He is being a coward. And voters deserve to know the truth. They deserve transparency. And they deserve leaders who are not only going to talk the talk on election integrity, but walk the walk too, and implement those same practices in their own lives.”
Gail Huff Brown: “The Republican party is the party of voter integrity. So this is very, very important. We cannot, we cannot nominate somebody to go to Congress who breaks the law, and commits voter fraud. So, I do believe that Matt Mowers needs to think about his campaign. Think abouts whether he drops out. Think about whether he goes back to New Jersey.”
Tim Baxter: “Jersey Mowers has potentially violated federal law by committing voter fraud. And I think people are done with pretenders. We need a real conservative fighter and I’m the only candidate in this race with a proven track record of fighting for election integrity.”
