For weeks, Michelle Steel has been embroiled in a controversy of her own making. An article published this week in TIME clearly demonstrates how unpopular and out of touch Steel’s campaign is.
As she did in the 2020 election, Michelle Steel has resorted to disinformation to smear her opponent Lt. Commander (res.) Jay Chen, who holds a top secret security clearance, as a CCP agent. Unfortunately for Michelle Steel, these vile attacks are backfiring because voters know she is on the wrong side of the most critical issues.
Voters are furious that Steel is using lies to distort from her disastrous record of opposing abortion rights and gun safety – top-testing issues among Asian American voters. Steel has co-sponsored a federal abortion ban without exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the woman and even voted against the bipartisan gun package that was signed into law earlier this year.
In a district where Steel is so out-of-step with her constituents, it’s no wonder why she is resorting to divisive campaign tactics. But her lies are backfiring as she alienates the very communities she promised to serve.
