Today, the DCCC announced that Michelle Vallejo (TX-15) has been added to its competitive ‘Red to Blue’ program, which arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue to develop strong campaigns and win in November.
Michelle Vallejo is a small business owner, community leader, and the people-powered candidate South Texans need to bring their voices to Washington. Michelle was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley and comes from a family of farm workers, immigrants, and entrepreneurs. Her family has run Pulga Los Portales, a local flea market and community hub, for nearly 25 years, and she now runs the business with her dad. When Michelle was a student at Columbia University, tragedy struck when her mother passed away following a 15-year-long battle with multiple sclerosis. Now, Michelle Vallejo is honoring her mother’s legacy by fighting for a better future for all Texas families as a candidate for Congress in TX-15.
The contrast between Michelle Vallejo and Republican Monica De La Cruz couldn’t be starker. Monica De La Cruz is facing serious allegations for abusive behavior towards her stepdaughter, and combined with her adherence to conspiracy theories and her fanatical opposition to common-sense ideas like investing in infrastructure or pandemic relief for small businesses, it’s clear that De La Cruz is only looking out for one person: herself. Michelle Vallejo is the candidate South Texans need, and we’ll be working hard from now until November to elect her to Congress.
DCCC Spokesperson Monica Robinson
“Michelle Vallejo is the champion South Texans need in Congress. Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, she understands the experiences of South Texas families who have worked hard for what they have because she’s lived it. In sharp contrast, Monica De La Cruz faces allegations of cruelly mistreating a child in her care, opposes infrastructure upgrades and creating new jobs in the Valley, and would gladly toss out your vote if she doesn’t agree with the outcome of an election. The DCCC is proud to back Michelle Vallejo, and we look forward to working alongside her from now until November.”
