The Supreme Court has officially overturned Roe v. Wade, eliminating the constitutional right to abortion for millions of women and undoing 50 years of precedent. It’s a future that Republicans like Mike Erickson have long been working towards – and now he will have to own up to his extreme, deeply unpopular positions.
Mike Erickson has proudly campaigned on a “strict anti-abortion platform” and wants to ban abortion.
Make no mistake: Erickson and the Republican Party are on the wrong side of this issue. Polling conducted after the leak of the SCOTUS draft opinion overturning Roe shows: by a two-to-one margin, people oppose Roe being overturned; 80% of people believe abortion should be decided between a woman and her doctor; and nearly two-thirds of people oppose the GOP’s plan to institute a nationwide abortion ban.
Erickson will be held accountable for his party’s role in decimating women’s reproductive freedoms and their plan to institute a nationwide abortion ban.
DCCC spokesperson Johanna Warshaw:
“The stakes in this election could not be higher: Mike Erickson wants to ban abortion and roll back women’s reproductive freedom. He couldn’t be more out of step with Oregonians – and we will remind Oregon voters of his cruel extremism every day until November.”
