Mike Garcia and Ken Calvert Exposed For Defending Donald Trump’s Antisemitic Comments

A new report from Axios exposes increasingly vulnerable California Republicans Mike Garcia and Ken Calvert for defending Donald Trump after the Republican presidential nominee attacked Jewish Americans during a time of heightened antisemitism.

In an interview with Sebastian Gorka, a top Trump administration adviser who has ties to Nazi-linked organizations, Donald Trump said: “Any Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion, they hate everything about Israel and should be ashamed of themselves.”

When confronted over the antisemitic comments, Mike Garcia defended Trump, telling Axios, “I think a lot of Jewish voters have felt like the Democrat Party has abandoned them on this issue, and I think he’s trying to reflect that.”

Meanwhile, Ken Calvert, who endorsed Trump in January, chose not to denounce his remarks — simply saying “I don’t have any thought on it.”

Their harmful, careless comments make it abundantly clear: Garcia and Calvert will continue to support Trump’s dangerous record no matter the cost to Californians.

DCCC Spokesperson Dan Gottlieb:
“Apparently it wasn’t enough for Mike Garcia and Ken Calvert just to perpetuate MAGA extremism at every turn. Now they’re choosing to defend Trump’s antisemitic dog whistles, too. Californians deserve better.”
