Mike Garcia Thinks Block Granting Medicaid Has To Do With Cryptocurrency

REMINDER – Mike Garcia’s “Not A Big Fan Of Medicaid” And Only Supports Medicare “At Certain Levels.”

As California endures a recession, Mike Garcia continues to serve up half-baked answers on health care for those who need it most. During an interview last week, Mike Garcia fumbled through a question on whether he supports block granting Medicaid, saying “block grants, block chain technologies usually do work if they’re tended to well.”

Block granting Medicaid could threaten health care access for the almost 75 million low-income and disabled people. That kind of draconian cutting of health care, unsurprisingly, is completely in line with Garcia’s past reckless statements supporting the stripping of health care access and protections for Californians.

During this campaign, Mike Garcia called for cutting Medicare and Medicaid, saying he was “not a big fan of Medicaid” and that he only supports Medicare “at certain levels.” Garcia’s agenda of stripping health care from California families while CA-25 has over 45,000 Medicare beneficiaries and 14 percent of adults are receive Medicaid coverage shows just how completely out of step Garcia is during this crisis and for this district.

Statement from DCCC Spokesperson Andy Orellana:

“Mike Garcia’s half-baked answers on health care for California families leaves Garcia’s agenda bare to the voters – he supports repealing health care protections, allow insurance companies to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions and hike up costs for life saving drugs. Now, more than ever Southern California families need a leader who they can trust will put their health and safety first, not half-baked GOP dogma on the issues that matter most to the public.”

KHTS: April 23, 2020: Eye On The Valley – Congressional Candidate, Mike Garcia

Minute 42: Garcia: “I’m not necessarily opposed to block grants for Medicaid. I’d like to see a little more detail on how that functions and the devil is in the details. And make sure that we’re not short-shifting folks and that it actually leads to more inefficiencies. Block grants, block chain technologies usually do work if they’re tended to well. But you know again the execution on that matters. So it’s not necessarily a bad idea, it’s all about execution and what exactly the construct of it looks like.”
