The Journal reports Speaker Johnson called the White House yesterday to suspend any effort to work with Democrats to provide affordable health care to over 20 million Americans facing a tenuous deadline at the end of the year.
A new Gallup poll shows almost half of Americans are worried they won’t be able to afford health care next year. According to The Hill, Republicans see the House majority slipping away in part because of their failure to address the health care crisis they created.
Johnson’s latest move to stymie an extension of the Affordable Care Act tax credits follows his remarks earlier this month saying he would not promise a vote on an extension. Majority Leader Steve Scalise also said he was a “No” on extending the ACA tax credits.
