Just a day after the Trump administration announced plans to eliminate the Department of Education, Republican Speaker Mike Johnson reaffirmed their goal – as laid out in Republicans’ extreme Project 2025 manifesto.
Destroying the Department of Education would:
-
Threaten pay and jobs for our teachers at a time when our schools need more resources to make America more competitive again
-
Jeopardize funding for low-income schools, threatening to lower test scores, graduation rates, and student outcomes
-
Throw children with disabilities out of the classroom
-
Endanger kids facing antisemitism and other forms of discrimination in our schools
-
Increase the cost of college and vocational programs for millions of students nationwide by compromising Pell Grants and funding for career and technical education
Voters deserve to know: Does Tom Kean Jr. stand with this extreme proposal or with New Jersey students?
DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“In the latest example of the Republican Rip Off, Tom Kean Jr. is scheming to steal American tax dollars from our schools and children so they can pay for tax breaks for their billionaire donors and big corporations.”
