| Mike Lawler is backing a bill that advocates warn would hurt New York veterans “by slashing or restricting existing veterans benefits and services.”
One of the largest veterans groups in the country is warning that Lawler’s bill is a “serious problem,” sounding the alarm that it could “reduce disability compensation payments by approximately $57 billion over 10 years and affect up to 1.5 million veterans.”
REMINDER: Lawler voted for the largest cut to Medicaid in history – abandoning the 1.6 million veterans who rely on the health care program. And during his first term, Lawler voted to gut funding for veterans’ health care by 22 percent.
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“No amount of spin from Mike Lawler can hide the truth: despite pledging to help New York veterans, Lawler has put their benefits on the chopping block at every turn.”
