The only standing Social Security hearing office in the Hudson Valley has officially closed its doors thanks to DOGE, Elon Musk, and Mike Lawler.
The closure has already forced thousands of seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities in NY-17 to travel hours to reach the nearest offices in the Bronx, Albany or New Haven, Connecticut.
Lawler, however, was quick to defend the decision and even argue that the office closure would benefit Hudson Valley seniors. But the reality is that vulnerable New Yorkers are already facing “significant delays” and unnecessary obstacles to get their cases heard.
Lawler is a self-proclaimed protector of Social Security — maintaining an entire page on his official website declaring his “support” for the program and his broken promises to never put it at risk for his constituents. Maybe it’s due for an update.

“Mike Lawler had a clear choice—stand up for his constituents or fall in line with Donald Trump and DOGE’s reckless agenda. Once again, Lawler has proven that he’s more interested in appeasing his party bosses than fighting for the people he claims to represent.”
