Mike Lawler Puts New York Hospitals on The Hook For $7 Billion With Reckless Vote to Slash Medicaid

Crain’s NY Business: The losses “would be ‘unsustainable’ and the state’s hospital system would ‘not resemble what it is today.’”

Mike Lawler and House Republicans’ Tax Scam is set to slash $7 billion from New York’s health care system annually — forcing hospitals across the state to make impossible choices between cutting staff, eliminating essential services, or raising costs on patients.

New York health care leaders are warning that the staggering losses — a direct result of the Medicaid cuts included in the GOP’s big, ugly bill — would be “unsustainable” and leave the state’s hospital system unrecognizable.

And Lawler’s reckless vote is already hitting home.

In the Hudson Valley, Garnet Health Medical Center has been forced to lay off over 40 employees and cut vital health care programs, including essential diabetes and rehabilitation services.

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“While Mike Lawler is down in Washington playing politics with New Yorkers’ health care, his constituents are at home dealing with the real consequences of his cowardice. Lawler is gambling with New Yorkers’ lives, and they won’t forget it come election time.”
