Mike Lawler Tries to Fool Seniors With AARP Photo Op After Voting to Slash Medicare and Social Security

At an AARP event to celebrate Social Security’s 90th anniversary, Lawler lied to seniors’ faces about the negative impacts of his Big, Ugly Bill

Mike Lawler spent the day smiling for the cameras at an AARP event last week, boasting the benefits of his vote for Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill –
the same bill that’s expected to force nearly $500 billion in cuts to Medicare and deplete Social Security’s trust funds faster.

But misleading voters is nothing new for the vulnerable Republican. For months, Lawler has been telling local media the tax scam “does nothing to cut Medicare” and even maintains an entire page on his official website proclaiming his support for Medicare and Social Security.

Recently, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the quiet part out loud when he admitted that Mike Lawler and the Trump Administration are scheming to privatize Social Security and view the GOP bill as a “backdoor” to do just that.

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Mike Lawler proudly voted for a bill that will force nearly $500 billion in cuts to Medicare and destroy Social Security, then turned around and told seniors he’s protecting them. The millions of seniors in New York who rely on these vital lifelines won’t forget his betrayal come next November.”
