Mike Lawler Votes to Fund Trump’s Iran War Killing Americans & Raising Prices

Polling shows the war in Iran is as unpopular as Iraq and Vietnam wars, and Lawler – out of step with his district – has repeatedly supported it

Vulnerable Republican Mike Lawler voted for Trump’s ‘America Last’ budget yesterday, greenlighting billions of taxpayer dollars going towards a war that has caused gas prices to skyrocket, cost American lives, and has no end in sight.

The war is also causing increasing anxiety for Republican strategists who are openly warning the party that it will sink any sliver of hope they have in the midterms in races like Lawler’s, who has been called the most vulnerable Republican in the country.

Politico reports:

The U.S. and Iran are escalating strikes. More U.S. service members are dead. Gas prices are again on the rise. The administration’s diplomatic off-ramp appears to be narrowing. And Republicans working to preserve their congressional majorities are beginning to contemplate a scenario they once viewed as unthinkable: a full-scale war still dominating the political landscape in November.

“We’re preparing for the bottom to fall out,” a GOP operative working on midterm races told Playbook.

REMINDER: Since the war started, gas prices have skyrocketed, housing costs have gone up, and life has become more and more expensive. Instead of delivering relief for hardworking families, Lawler has claimed rising costs from the war are absolutely worth it,” called the war a “righteous decision and stood by Donald Trump’s Treasury secretary while he dismissed the pain Hudson Valley families are feeling at the pump as a blip.”

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
New Yorkers are begging for relief from the cost-of-living crisis Mike Lawler and House Republicans created – but all Lawler is delivering is more war, higher gas prices, and higher costs. Voters are sick and tired of Republicans’ broken promises and ready to reject Lawler in November.”
