| Last night, Mike Lawler voted to shield Donald Trump from Congressional oversight on his sweeping, reckless tariffs that are raising costs for New Yorkers.
The pivotal vote comes as a new report from the Tax Foundation found Trump’s tariffs cost the average American household $1,000 last year. The cost is expected to rise in 2026 to $1,300 if existing tariffs that Lawler voted to continue stay in place.
This isn’t the first time Mike Lawler voted to rubber stamp Trump’s sweeping tariffs. In September of 2025, Lawler and Republicans voted to protect price-hiking tariffs, after doing the same thing in March of 2025. Last night’s vote would have shielded oversight until the Summer of 2026.
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Mike Lawler has once again sided with Donald Trump over Lower Hudson Valley families. Lawler pledged to lower the cost of living on the campaign trail but has done the exact opposite. Promises made, promises broken.” |
