| Despite electricity prices rising twice as fast as inflation this year, Mike Lawler voted to raise energy bills on hardworking New Yorkers today.
Lawler and House Republicans pushed through an extreme funding bill that slashes over $18 million from New York for programs designed to lower utility bills for American families.
The program most hurt by Lawler and Republicans’ spending bill is the Weatherization Assistance Program, which reduces energy costs for families through energy efficiency – a program that Lawler himself called “vital for families and homeowners in the Lower Hudson Valley” earlier this year.
REMINDER: Under Mike Lawler’s Big, Ugly Law alone, New York would see a spike of $169 in annual energy bills.
DCCC spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Mike Lawler has now voted TWICE this year to raise energy costs on hardworking New Yorkers. His vote is both political malpractice and incredibly cruel to millions of households struggling to pay their bills. As working families across New York see their utility bills go up and up, the DCCC will make sure everyone knows Mike Lawler’s to blame when they vote in 2026.” |
