As women across the country endure the unimaginable, brutal consequences of Republican’s war on women, Mike Lawler and House Republicans are doubling down on their anti-choice agenda in the early days of serving in the majority.
Earlier this week, in one of his very first votes in Congress, Lawler voted against consideration of the Women’s Health Protection Act which would codify the reproductive freedoms Roe v. Wade guaranteed before the Supreme Court ripped them away.
REMINDER: While Lawler tried to insist he would vote against a national abortion ban, he voted against multiple bills in the State Assembly to protect abortion rights in New York amid threats to Roe v. Wade and accepted the endorsement of a group that supported outlawing abortion even in the cases of rape or incest.
DCCC spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre:
“When it was politically useful, Lawler downplayed House Republicans’ commitment to banning abortion nationwide and suggested he would be reasonable in protecting women’s freedoms. Now that Lawler is in Congress after a tough election, he is showing voters his true cards: Lawler is an anti-choice extremist who supports Republicans’ war on women.”
