Mike Lawler’s Big, Ugly Bill “Adds Insult To Injury” As New Yorkers Buckle Under High Utility Bills

Lawler proudly voted to hike home energy costs and kill energy jobs across New York – all to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires

New Yorkers are already struggling to pay their utility bills as energy costs continue to spike across the state, and “adding insult to injury is the federal rollback of renewable energy incentives” that Mike Lawler voted to pass in the Big, Ugly Bill.

Lawler’s vote to slash critical clean energy tax credits bringing millions of dollars to NY-17 and tens of thousands of jobs to New York is already expected to “have a significant financial impact on energy consumers in New York state” according to local officials. Families across the state could see their electricity bills rise by $170 annually over the next decade because of Lawler’s betrayal.

Let’s not forget that Lawler insisted for months he would protect these clean energy tax credits, even sending a letter to the Senate asking them to “mitigate” the negative impacts of his own vote.

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Mike Lawler made a deliberate choice to hike energy costs on hardworking Hudson Valley families and kill jobs in New York so that his billionaires buddies could get a tax break. New Yorkers will have him to blame for spiking prices and it’s one of the many reasons they’ll fire him next year.”
