While middle-class families in the Hudson Valley face rising costs and struggle to make ends meet, Mike Lawler is busy in Washington D.C. working to…wait, make their lives harder?
That’s right, Lawler is preparing to deliver a crucial vote for his party’s extreme plan that would slash funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and threaten the 66,000 people in NY-17 that rely on SNAP to put food on the table each day — nearly half of which include children — all to shovel even more tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations.
The Republican bill would cut nearly $300 billion from the program nationwide and put food access on the line for over 3 million New Yorkers.
