Miller-Meeks and Nunn Say “No Cuts To Medicaid” After They Already Voted For Largest Cut in American History

Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn are out with yet another meaningless letter – this time begging the Senate to scale back aggressive cuts to Medicaid…just weeks after they voted to enact the largest cut to Medicaid in American history.

Miller-Meeks and Nunn are hoping this letter will save them from backlash over voting to gut health care for millions of Americans, as the Senate considers lowering the provider tax on states — a move that would cause even more Iowans to lose coverage.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the Miller-Meeks and Nunn-backed House-version of the GOP Tax Scam would result in more than 106,000 Iowans uninsured by gutting Medicaid and failing to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits. In addition, nearly 24 million Americans will see their monthly health care costs increase and over 300 rural hospitals could close, including MercyOne Newton Medical Center in IA-01.

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Enough with the meaningless letters. Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn already voted for the largest cut to Medicaid in American history – and when the time comes, they will cave to their D.C. party bosses once again to give their billionaire donors a massive tax break.”
