Miller-Meeks Barely Survives Primary, Enters the General Election Weaker Than Ever

Last night, Mariannette Miller-Meeks nearly lost her primary, despite her team and outside groups spending more than $800,000 to communicate to voters while her GOP opponent raised and spent virtually nothing.

In fact, Miller-Meeks’ primary performance was one of the weakest in the country for a GOP incumbent in a targeted seat and Miller-Meeks’ worst congressional primary performance since she first ran for Congress 15 years ago.

This primary result serves as another indicator of Miller-Meeks’ weaknesses in this race. Christina Bohannan has outraised Miller-Meeks quarter after quarter and the two will start the general election with roughly the same cash on hand.

It’s no surprise Iowans are fed up with Miller-Meeks. She repeatedly puts DC politicians and special interests over Iowa families, including supporting a nationwide abortion ban with no exceptions, voting against lowering prescription drug costs after taking tens of thousands from Big Pharma, and laying the groundwork for Iowa’s failed school voucher program.

DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:
“Mariannette Miller-Meeks is going into the general election more vulnerable than ever – and that’s saying a lot considering she won by just six votes in 2020. With Miller-Meeks’ dangerous attacks on reproductive freedom and her willingness to raise costs on Iowa families to line the pockets of her special interest donors, voters are ready to send her packing in November.”
