Miller-Meeks Falls in Line Behind Her Party and Votes for Extreme Conspiracy Theorist Jim Jordan for Speaker

Mariannette Miller-Meeks voted today for extremist Jim Jordan for speaker in the chaotic, ongoing GOP leadership fight.

Miller-Meeks had every opportunity to embrace a bipartisan governing coalition, but chose to enable her far-right colleagues instead.

Thanks to Miller-Meeks, Speaker candidate Jim Jordan now has been given the greenlight to push an extreme, dangerous agenda that:

  • Repeals investments that are creating good-paying jobs and reinvigorating American manufacturing.

It’s no surprise Miller-Meeks voted for Jordan – he supports the same agenda of restricting abortion access and threatening access to seniors’ hard-earned Social Security and Medicare. And while Miller-Meeks continues to ignore the Farm Bill that expired 17 days ago, it turns out her choice for Speaker has left Iowa farmers behind and voted against every single Farm Bill during his time in Congress.

DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:

“By voting for Jim Jordan, Mariannette Miller-Meeks has once again given in to the most extreme fringes of her party and embraced an agenda of promoting conspiracy theories, taking away women’s reproductive freedom, and defunding law enforcement. Iowans will resoundingly reject this extremism next year in favor of Democrats’ focus on expanding the middle class and protecting our freedoms.”
