Miller-Meeks cosponsors legislation denying abortions to veterans who have been raped, victims of incest, or whose lives are at risk
Despite insisting on the campaign trail that she supports “exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the mother,” Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ recent action in Congress is proving her words to be lies.
Alongside her extremist GOP colleagues, Miller-Meeks is backing dangerous legislation that would repeal protections for veterans set by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs that ensure veterans who receive care through the VA are able to access abortion care regardless of state restrictions in instances of rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is at risk.
Miller-Meeks’ lies and her radical attempt to rip away these freedoms and protections from veterans serve as a stark sign to voters that Miller-Meeks will always choose her party’s far-right agenda over what the majority of Iowans support.
