Miller-Meeks Says Cuts to Medicaid to Fund Tax Breaks for Billionaires Are “Necessary,” “Perfectly Reasonable” [Southeast Iowa Union]

New reporting highlights how Mariannette Miller-Meeks is further twisting herself into a pretzel to defend her vote to slash Medicaid and kick nearly 22,000 people in IA-01 off their health insurance.

Southeast Iowa Union reported that Miller-Meeks “said the funding package’s reductions to another program — Medicaid — were necessary,” and said these cuts were “perfectly reasonable.”

Reminder that last week, Miller-Meeks said that “[Iowans] may lose coverage, but that’s their choice to lose coverage.”

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Mariannette Miller-Meeks tells Iowans yet again where her priorities lie: slashing Medicaid and kicking Iowans off their health insurance in order to give billionaires another tax cut. Miller-Meeks thinks it’s ‘necessary’ that Iowans foot the bill for handouts to the ultra-rich – Iowans don’t share those priorities, which is why they’ll fire her next November.”
