National Republican Congressional Committee spent more than $800,000 in NC-09
Kevin McCarthy’s Super PAC, Congressional Leadership Fund, spent more than $1.2 million in NC-09
Kevin McCarthy, Tom Emmer & Steve Scalise contributed $20,000 to Mark Harris while he executed a “Coordinated, Unlawful and Substantially Resourced Absentee Ballot Scheme”
For four days in Raleigh, the Board of Elections heard one explosive charge after another about the “coordinated, unlawful and substantially resourced absentee ballot scheme” orchestrated by Mark Harris’ campaign.
During the election, top Republican Leadership including NRCC Chair Tom Emmer, Minority Whip Steve Scalise, and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy funneled tens of thousands of dollars into Mark Harris’ campaign.
Additionally, according to FEC data, the National Republican Congressional Committee spent $805,586 while Kevin McCarthy’s Super PAC, the Congressional Leadership fund, spent $1,243,251 to elect Mark Harris in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District.
And even though it’s now clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that Mark Harris has been behind the scheme to rob North Carolinians of their right to vote, Republican Leadership has refused to denounce Harris.
“Washington Republican Leaders Kevin McCarthy, Tom Emmer and Steve Scalise cannot simply ignore the fact that they helped pay for Mark Harris’ election fraud scheme,” said DCCC Communications Director Jared Smith. “They bankrolled a multi-million dollar effort to elect Mark Harris and they own this disgusting ‘coordinated, unlawful and substantially resourced’ scheme to prevent North Carolinians from casting their votes. Protecting the right to vote should not be a partisan issue and it’s unconscionable that the very top of the House Republican Party would rather stick their heads in the sand than hold Mark Harris accountable as we head toward a special election.”
Yesterday, the DCCC called out Republican leadership for failing to denounce Mark Harris. Since then, they have refused to directly address election fraud committed by their candidate in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District.
