Millions of Americans Lost Their Health Care This Year Because of Republicans

2.6 million fewer Americans have health care coverage

The AP reports that new federal data shows states across the country have seen “steep drops in the number of people covered by the Affordable Care Act (ACA) over the past year” as a result of Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill. Ohio and Oklahoma saw declines of over 32%, followed by Arizona, South Carolina, Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Louisiana and Missouri where 25% or more of enrollees are no longer covered.

Health care costs have become one of the top issues for voters since Republicans voted to rip away health care from Americans to fund billionaire tax breaks — “73% of adults now say the affordability of health care is a very big problem for the country.” Nearly half of Americans say it’s “difficult to afford health care costs,” and about two-thirds of adults say they are either “very worried” (30%) or “somewhat worried” (34%) about being able to afford the cost of health care for themselves and their families.

DCCC Spokesperson Bridget Gonzalez:
“It’s clear that Republicans could not care less if Americans live or die, and it’s going to get them voted out in November.”
