REPORT: “Taylor Greene indicated support for killing Democrats”
CNN: “Most House Republicans silent over violent Marjorie Taylor Greene comments as Democrats condemn them”
QUESTION: Why won’t McCarthy and Emmer take a stand?
Less than a week after we told you that Congresswoman, QAnon Enthusiast and 9/11 Truther Marjorie Taylor Greene was the new face of the House Republican caucus, the GOP Frontwoman is making headlines yet again.
According to a new report from CNN’s KFile, Taylor Greene – who was endorsed by the NRCC — has “repeatedly indicated support for executing prominent Democratic politicians,” promoting extreme debunked conspiracy theories and suggesting support for a “bullet in the head” and “hanging” of elected officials.
Taylor Greene’s comments, made over the last two years, were echoed by the QAnon mob that stormed the Capitol earlier this month. Yet instead of denouncing these comments, CNN reports that “most House Republicans were silent” on them. Those House Republicans included noted “leaders” of the caucus, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and NRCC Chair Tom Emmer.
As we’ve said before, no one should be surprised that a QAnon conspiracy theorist who thinks the Parkland and Newtown shootings were hoaxes would promote this kind of violent extremism.
But the fact Washington Republicans have caved to Marjorie Taylor Greene and embraced her rise, even as her QAnon mob murdered a police officer, underlines just how weak Republicans are at a time when it is critical they stand strong against her own calls for further violence and the QAnon mob she has rallied.
DCCC Spokesperson Cole Leiter released the following statement:
“Minority Leader McCarthy and NRCC Chair Tom Emmer know exactly who QAnon conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene is, but they caved to the mob and welcomed her into their caucus anyway. If they continue to stand with Taylor Greene, as her violent ideology comes into focus for the rest of the country, it will say all we need to know. Washington Republicans cannot be trusted to keep anyone safe, because they are too weak to stand up to the violent conspiracy theorists taking over their own party.”
