“Moderate” Don Bacon Stands By As Extremists Work To Strip Freedoms From Nebraskans

This week, extremists in the Nebraska state legislature moved forward on their latest efforts to strip reproductive freedoms and health care access from women and families. This legislation would effectively ban abortion and could lead to a health care “desert,” cruelly leaving Nebraska women without access to life-saving care. Additionally, the legislation does not make clear whether exceptions for rape would be protected.

Voters deserve an answer from Don Bacon as to why he is standing by Republicans’ dangerous efforts to strip Nebraska women of their fundamental freedoms.

While Bacon is desperate to trick voters into seeing him as a moderate, he repeatedly made his true radical position on abortion abundantly clear by:

• Joining 227 other Republican members of Congress in signing an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to overturn Roe.

• Co-sponsoring a federal abortion ban that would not make exceptions for rape or when the life of an individual is at risk.

• Refusing to protect abortion, contraception, and interstate travel for abortion in the 117th congress – voting against each.

• And in just the first three weeks of the 118th Congress, Bacon voted for anti-choice legislation that would limit healthcare access and potentially imprison doctors.
