Mondaire Jones Added to DCCC’s Coveted ‘Red to Blue’ Program

Jones will flip NY-17 blue and help take back the House majority

Today, the DCCC announced that former Congressman Mondaire Jones has been added to the first round of its highly competitive ‘Red to Blue’ program, signaling that the DCCC is invested in providing Jones, a top-tier candidate, with the support needed to continue building a winning campaign as he runs for New York’s 17th Congressional District.

“Mondaire Jones was an integral part of our historic work last Congress to grow the middle class and protect our freedoms. He is in a strong position to flip New York’s 17th Congressional District after Mike Lawler has repeatedly turned a blind eye to Republican extremism even when it hurts Lower Hudson Valley families,” said DCCC Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene.

Former Congressman Mondaire Jones was raised in Section 8 housing in Rockland County by a single mother. A former litigator for Westchester County, Mondaire defended correctional officers and helped make communities safer by taking guns away from dangerous people. Mondaire was a member of the most productive Congress in modern history, capping prescription drug costs for seniors and delivering hundreds of millions of dollars to the Lower Hudson Valley for schools, housing, and health care. He also delivered record law enforcement funding to support our police officers, staunchly defended Israel, and worked to block members of Congress from getting rich off the stock market. Now, Mondaire is running to return to Congress to finish the work he started to lower costs for everyday people, defend democracy, improve public safety, and stop Republicans from banning abortion.

Mondaire Jones’ fundraising strength – having raised over $2 million dollars in the six months since he launched his campaign – and overwhelming support within the district put him in a great position to take on Mike Lawler in the general election. NY-17 is one of the top five House races that will determine Democrats taking back the House this cycle, according to Roll Call and National Journal.
