Monday Reminder: The Orange County GOP’s Severe Struggles Carry On

OC Register: “There’s A Mini Revolt Underway in the Republican Party of Orange County”

It has been one rough summer for the Orange County GOP, when they aren’t being outhustled and out-organized by local Democrats or being outraised by the grassroots, they are losing their once unsurmountable voter registration lead. But last week’s news tops it off, according to the Orange County Register:

“There is a mini revolt underway in the Republican Party of Orange County, aimed at ousting Chairman Fred Whitaker.”

Brian Burley a local GOP member and Congressional candidate in CA-48 launched a petition challenging the OC GOP and its Chairman, accusing them of not offering:

“A central message that local conservatives can rally behind,” and laying the “blame for the local Republican party’s 2018 losses, and the recent decline of GOP voter registration in Orange County, at Whitaker’s feet.”

The petition went on to say that the OC GOP:

“Hasn’t built a successful get-out-the-vote operation, or given non-career politicians — such as himself — a fair shake.

A collapsing voter registration lead…No central message to rally the troops…Completely lacking an effective GOTV operation…Being outhustled and out fundraised by their Democratic counterparts.

“For all the bullish talk of success next year in California by the GOP, the reality is that Republicans in Orange County are struggling to even stick together in order to compete in 2020,” said DCCC Spokesperson, Andy Orellana. “While the Orange County GOP determines how, when and if to begin implementing a campaign plan or if they even want to be unified going into the next election, Democrats have been organizing to win for 2020 from Day One.”
