| Monica De La Cruz’s newest campaign ad wants Texans to believe she’ll fight to protect their Social Security. The only problem? De La Cruz has spent her time in Washington earning praise from an extremist group plotting to privatize it.
According to reporting, De La Cruz was caught receiving an award from the far-right “60 Plus Association,” which has spent decades advocating to privatize the Social Security that nearly five million Texans rely on.
That’s not the only time De La Cruz has worked to take away Texans’ retirement security. De La Cruz was the deciding vote on the Big, Ugly Bill, which Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent admitted was a “backdoor for privatizing Social Security.” Her vote is also predicted to exhaust the Social Security trust fund more quickly than previous estimates.
De La Cruz also looked the other way as billionaire Elon Musk gutted the Social Security Administration, cut phone lines, and laid off 20% of the agency’s field workforce.
