Last night, Monica De La Cruz aired a weak pre-taped response to the State of the Union address.
DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen released the following statement:
“Monica Da La Cruz’s Spanish response to the State of the Union was emblematic of her approach to legislating – fundamentally unserious. She doubled down on the partisan extremism that turns off South Texas voters and played partisan politics with the border. Despite her rhetoric, her record shows that De La Cruz doesn’t actually care to work on border security or immigration reform. When given the opportunity to pass bipartisan border legislation, she and her House Republican colleagues killed the bill for political points.
“While the GOP hoped to elevate her with this speech because they know she’s vulnerable, to no one’s surprise, De La Cruz flopped.”
