De La Cruz cheers bipartisan infrastructure funds she opposed on the campaign trail
Thanks to House Democrats passing an historic infrastructure bill, $1.8 million in investments are on their way to support critical improvements at the McAllen International Airport.
Rep. Monica De La Cruz went out of her way to celebrate the announcement, saying how thrilled she was “to provide a letter of support for this impactful grant” and highlighting her “work to bring federal dollars home.”
The only problem?
De La Cruz railed against the infrastructure bill during her campaign and tore into her fellow Republicans who supported the historic legislation.
Let’s review what De La Cruz said about the bipartisan infrastructure bill during her campaign:
In October of 2021, she took to twitter calling the bill “Pelosi’s circus… WE THE PEOPLE do not support this bill!”
Re: Rep. Gonzalez’s vote in favor of the bill, she said that it “looks like Rep. Vicente Gonzalez has cheated hard working Americans out of their tax payor dollars and spent it on #pork.”
De La Cruz lambasted the 13 Republicans who voted for the bill, saying that they “were not truly conservative.”
DCCC Spokesperson Jacob Haythorn:
“Now that she’s in Congress, Monica De La Cruz is eagerly joining the embarrassing ranks of MAGA GOP hypocrites who happily take credit for historic legislation they opposed. Texas voters won’t forget how Monica De La Cruz and the Texas GOP have repeatedly worked to block infrastructure investments when vulnerable communities needed support.”
