Monica De La Cruz Refuses to Speak to Reporters in TX-15

TX-15 GOP candidate Monica De La Cruz vows to avoid interviews with just one week until the Texas primary election

With just a week to go before the bruising GOP primary election in TX-15 comes to a close, Monica De La Cruz’s campaign declared she is “not doing any interviews […] through the primary.

De La Cruz’s reporter dodging comes as allegations of her “cruel and aggressive” mistreatment of her stepdaughter take center stage.

According to court documents and early reporting, De La Cruz is accused of having “pinched her [stepdaughter] to stop her from crying,” and “said she would divorce [her husband] if he brought the child, who has at times been hospitalized, back to live at their home.” In the wake of these allegations, a Texas judge ruled that “De La Cruz must continue living away from her family home until after the March 1 primary.”

Monica De La Cruz can run, dodge, and duck all she wants — but she won’t be able to hide from questions about her fitness to hold one of the highest elected offices in the country.

“It’s no mystery why Monica De La Cruz is hiding from reporters as Election Day draws near,” said DCCC Spokesperson Monica Robinson. “If De La Cruz wants to represent South Texans in Congress, she needs to be willing to answer for her record.”
