Monica De La Cruz Wants to Raise Health Care Costs for Seniors and Working Families

Monica De La Cruz and the Republican Study Committee introduced a new, extreme MAGA budget that will dramatically raise health care costs for working families and seniors. Her plan calls for the “full repeal” of policies that have made life-saving prescription drugs more affordable for millions of Americans.

Under De La Cruz’s budget proposal, millions of American seniors and Medicare recipients would once again have to spend up to $400 per month on insulin, significantly more expensive than the $35 per month price limit set by the Inflation Reduction Act passed by House Democrats. Additionally, many seniors on Medicare will likely face soaring costs on essential prescription drugs as De La Cruz’s plan would eliminate the current $2,000 out-of-pocket price cap on prescriptions, allowing Big Pharma to raise prices.

Monica De La Cruz’s budget would raise insurance costs across the board by first gutting the Affordable Care Act, putting nearly 100 million Americans at risk of losing their health care or forcing them into junk insurance that could scam them out of tens of thousands of dollars. Secondly, her budget raises health insurance premiums for millions of seniors via their scheme to privatize Medicare, resulting in higher costs and less benefits for seniors.

DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen:
“Monica De La Cruz doesn’t care about seniors and families in Texas, since she is actively pushing plans that would raise their health care costs. De La Cruz has gone all in on the same extremism that voters have rejected time and again. Voters will do so once again in November when they vote her out of office.”
