Monica Tranel will flip MT-01 blue and help take back the House majority
Today, the DCCC announced that Monica Tranel has been added to the first round of its highly competitive ‘Red to Blue’ program, signaling that the DCCC is invested in providing Tranel, a top-tier candidate, with the support needed to continue building a winning campaign as she runs for Montana’s 1st congressional district.
“Monica Tranel is a champion for working families in Montana, saving taxpayers millions of dollars by standing up to price-gouging corporations and special interests,” said DCCC Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene. “Montana families know Monica understands what matters most to them and that she’ll deliver for them in Congress. There’s no better candidate to take on corrupt DC politician Ryan Zinke and flip this seat blue in November.”
Monica Tranel grew up on a ranch in Montana where she helped feed pigs, stack hay, and fix fences and that work ethic led her to become a world-class rower in two Olympic games. As a lawyer, Monica has dedicated herself to holding out-of-state billionaires and corporations accountable for ripping off Montanans – saving families, ranchers, and small businesses millions of dollars.
Monica is running for Congress to stand up to the out-of-state special interests that surround her opponent, Ryan Zinke, a corrupt politician who has faced 18 ethics investigations and has put enriching himself and his corporate donors before Montanans.
Monica shattered expectations in 2022. Despite running in a race that wasn’t targeted by national Democrats, Monica came within three points of defeating Ryan Zinke, whose campaign had to be bolstered by a six-figure investment from the NRCC.
Red to Blue is a highly competitive and battle-tested DCCC program that arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue building winning campaigns. Additionally, through Red to Blue the DCCC provides strategic guidance, staff resources, candidate trainings, and more.
