Congressman Steve Chabot may have voted with Trump 95% of the time and spent the last year and a half as a Trump sycophant, but that still didn’t land him in the President’s favor. Last night when Trump took to Twitter to endorse a slate of vulnerable Ohio Republicans, he failed to include the embattled congressman.
In fact, embarrassingly, Chabot was the only Ohio Republican on the DCCC’s battlefield that Trump ignored.
Maybe Trump’s decision not to endorse stems from Chabot’s never-ending legal troubles. Maybe it’s because of the strong Democratic candidates running against him.
Or maybe Trump left Chabot out to dry because even the president knows he’s going to lose his general election race.
DCCC Spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer released the following statement:
“After spending over a year destroying his reputation with shameless pandering to Trump, it’s embarrassing that Congressman Steve Chabot still has nothing to show for it. Between his lack of endorsement, his endless legal drama, and a damning record of fighting to take health care away from his constituents, Chabot has never been more vulnerable as he heads into the general election.”
