Multi-Millionaire Brandon Williams Sympathizes with MAGA Majority Over Central New Yorkers

Williams, a multi-millionaire, declared he will continue to take pay during a GOP-inflicted shutdown, claiming “I’m not independently wealthy”

Extreme New York Republican Brandon Williams – a former Wall Street investment banker and Silicon Valley investor who boasts a net worth of up to $8.2 million – declared in an interview this morning that he is “not independently wealthy” and will continue taking pay during the MAGA majority’s shutdown.

Williams went so far as to claim that furloughed government employees shouldn’t expect “a huge amount of sympathy.”

Facing backlash, hours after the interview Williams backtracked his statement – but he said what he said. Let’s roll the tapes:

“I’m not independently wealthy. We are like any other family. We want to stay focused on the job and not be manipulated by our own financial circumstances to do what’s right for America… So I don’t think you’re going to find a huge amount of sympathy for people that have been furloughed or early retirement or laid off or their pension going bankrupt. You’re not going to find a huge amount of sympathy out there. I’m afraid that’s just the reality.”

Williams votes with MAGA extremists over and over, including shutdown cheerleader Marjorie Taylor Greene, who he votes with 87% of the time. The MAGA majority’s shutdown will impact over 7,400 federal workers in New York’s 22nd Congressional District.

DCCC Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty:
“Multi-millionaire Brandon Williams claiming he’s ‘not independently wealthy’ is an absolute joke. MAGA extremists like Williams are jeopardizing thousands of Central New Yorkers’ paychecks and couldn’t seem to care less.”
