It hasn’t even been a month since the NRCC ditched their favored candidate Craig Riedel in OH-09 for another anti-abortion extremist — Derek Merrin — but national Republicans are already walking back support for their newest recruit.
Despite begging Merrin “to jump into a chaotic primary,” in an interview yesterday with Punchbowl News, the NRCC is now claiming that both Riedel or Merrin are acceptable candidates and said that they won’t “meddle” in the primary. Too little too late.
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“In an effort to stop the clear MAGA frontrunner in OH-09, national Republicans are pushing two fumbling anti-abortion extremists. This Republican primary mirrors the House GOP dysfunction in Washington. The biggest losers are the voters in Northwest Ohio.” |
